New Mexico is a beautiful place to live, but we do have our share of natural disasters. With drought conditions in the state persisting, wildfires have become an almost year-round concern for many people. Whether you live in the country or a city, no area is completely safe from wildfires. In the best scenarios, you might know hours – or even days – ahead of time that a wildfire is headed your way. But, it’s also possible that an evacuation order might come with only minutes of warning. So, the key to your safety, and that of your beloved animal companions, is to prepare ahead of time for what you will do in the event that a wildfire threatens your community.
The following sites provide information on disaster planning for both you and your pets. Please take a moment to check them out.
